Breathlessly Beautiful.
Rihanna normally dresses crazy insane hooker-style or super sleek beautiful in haute couture. As an artist this is interesting as it never gets boring seeing her in a new outfit creation. But as a style setter I have had my doubts. The image above from the August 2012 issue of Harpers Bazaar is out of this world.
Funny thing, maybe it is so because her face, manners and attitude are non-existent and her body is expressing all that needs to be said: freedom, sex-appeal, luxury. Further, it is beautiful because her image is not visible as such, only a schematic body set against a backdrop of nature, sun and architecture, which takes away the associated street culture that she carries as a cultural and socio-political signifier and elevates her, the image and the meaning to a new and better place.
