LOreal-Collection-Privee-by-Color-Riche-Ad-Campaign
When I recently came across this new ad by L'Oreal I was stunned by its simplicity, its high class as well as its sophictication. It reminded of American Vanity Fair/Vogue fold out covers.
Note how none of the beauties here looks directly at the camera, but how they all seem to interact with each other seemingly oblivious to the prying eye of the photographer.
It feels like a study of beauty through the ages. All at one level, yet all unique, special and different. But this is not obvious from the start; once one delves further into the intricacies of this photograph one realizes the many layers there are below the surafce.
The right side of the frame with Doutzen, Eva, Liya and Fan is completely focused to the left; all eyes look towards the left that is, the focal point of this photograph and of this setting of beautiful women is Ines de la Fressange. Light-wise my eye, as I am the viewer, the intruder in this setting, is drawn from the start to Jane's glowing mane, yet she also looks to the left, not pleased but with an air of arrogance as if to say 'who are you to draw all this attention'. Even Freida and Julianne, both on the left, focus on Ines.
Thus, Ines is the quintessential answer.
Without airs and graces
she is simply beautiful.
