Cri de Coeur (posted on 03/01/2012)

My heart is in pain when my eyes see this. The so-called new trend according to UK's fashion bible per se, Vogue. In A New Sensation Harriet Quick gets excited about the apparent arrival of a fun fashion trend for spring 2012. Is this going to be really fun for the wearer or the world seeing someone make a big mistake? She says, "spring's new trend is a dazzling sensory overload of eye-popping colours, high drama and, above all, fun". Because some designers want to show how little they care about commerce and just want to show off how creative they are by literally going crazy on the sequins, etc, does that mean we consumers have to run with this and look like we are flying over the Cuckoo's Nest? Quick rightly states that this fun trend is a "big assault on the retina as well as on the taste buds". I have picked the above look from Marc Jacobs's spring 2012 ready-to-wear (really?) collection to show that he -no doubt- displayed a bit of skill in cut but most of all showed that he can have loads of fun -neither taking himself nor his customers seriously.
