Reed's Prints (posted on 18/03/2012)

I am obsessed with prints right now. More than one can imagine. They are everywhere and literally on everything. So to be inundated by them -like me- is now wonder. I have also become particularly fond of finding the edgiest print combinations that -when mixed together- result in an ultra super chic look. But I must admit not all prints are equally worthy of lusting over and then of wearing alone or together with other prints. 

I have picked an e-newsletter by my fav store, Bergdorf Goodman, which showcased a spring look by Reed Krakoff.
There is something modern, easy and young about this look. The sandals pain my eyes though. The top on the other hand is quite charming as it reminds of the digital prints that are en vogue right now. The pants are the biggest no-go here though. The repetition of the print and fabric of the top does not work. It might have looked acceptable on an e-newsletter or as part of a magazine editorial but in real life, it lacks style. The pant should have been a very slim black pant with a bit of the fabric of the top on the bottom leg (near ankles). This would have been great given the element of surprise adding a little something extra-special. I would have styled the top with a white or red pencil skirt and high heels. Add some fabulously glossy Ferrari-red lips and Essie Mod Squad pink nails. Voila!
