H&M Conscious Campaign (posted on 15/04/2012)

The good things first: I love the colors of the new H&M Conscious Collection campaign, which was shot by Terry Richardson. By colors I not only refer to the color palette chosen for the fabrics but also the colors and setting/theme/topic used for the campaign. It feels very Pop and Warhol-esque - bright, lively, almost kitsch with its candy, lively-nature inspired environment.
Now to the not so good bits: Take a look at the dress on the very right, the off-white dress with the ruffle overflow worn by the lovely Toni Garrn. The sad thing here is that the dress does not even look good on this gorgeous girl. It swallows her completely. Though the top of the dress is acceptable and modern in its simplicity and restraint, the dress borders on the insane as it forgets about balance and proportion and goes overboard with fabric.
The rest of the collection is merely ok. I have seen better design and innovation in the regular collection.
Overall, I think the choice of the external factors or rather surrounding factors such as the setting, the models, the makeup as well as the colors are the strong points here, not the clothes unfortunately.
