I am a big fan of Berlin's Quartier206 and cannot wait to receive each season's catalog with the new picks.
Though I must say the newcomer Michael Sontag I would not have singled out and featured in the magazine. He is true to his last name, which means in German "Sunday", and knowing Germany's tradition of keeping the Sunday free of work, it seems to fit with his design aesthetic, which speaks of a laissez faire attitude to rules and regulations of making the body beautiful. His designs such as this "dress" above create so much volume one imagines that Sontag must hate the female form in order to hide it in such grotesque proportions. Though it seems a silk-like fabric and thus cannot be too heavy overall, I am suffering from horrendous back pains and abstain from any design, where the brunt of the weight is carried by the back/shoulders.
Lastly, Sontag's colour choice is another mystery to me.
Not flattering, beautiful or in the least chic.
Abstain.
