Another hideous Vogue UK article on a new trend: the summer trouser. But really, what the author, Sarah Harris, is specifically talking about is the wide leg trouser. This time in lighter, summer-appropriate fabrics such as silks, viscoses, etc. Harris' article Easy Breezy emphasizes the fact these so-called summer trousers "take one from garden party to commute". Apparently, according to the author, they are "so chic, so smart, so purposeful". Purposeful? Harris must have been lost for words.
They are chic on skinny girls. Yes.
Chic on normal people? No
That being out of the way, let's get down to business here.
No matter what you call them, wide leg or "summer trouser" in order to write something "new" for the new monthly magazine, it does not matter because all that matters is the bottom line. And here quite literally it is about bottoms, thighs, legs...and if you are chunkier than a skinny minnie, these wide legs are probably gonna make you gain in visual extra pounds. You know what I mean?
And this is just regarding the plain-colored wide legs. If it is a printed version, it probably triples your visual weight.
