Chic Past Revisited - Lauren Hutton, an Icon

This photograph is the perfect embodiment of what Lauren Hutton stands for, what she is iconic for in fashion history: She is beauty simplified. What I mean with this is that she does not need much to shine ever so brightly and beautifully. Take a look above. She is simply wearing a white shirt and white pants/trousers giving a glimpse of her naughty side. If the shirt had been buttoned-up, it would not have worked. This photograph needed this element of peek-a-boo sexiness that is neither vulgar nor cheap but rather endearing, playful, unassuming. I also like about this photograph that it does not seem to be too posed. She is sitting leisurely on the floor with her legs crossed and even her hands are intertwined too. She is quite literally hiding some of her best features (her legs) from plain view as she is wearing pants/trousers as well as by her body positioning. You just have to see her in American Gigolo (1980) with Richard Gere and you have no chance but to fall in love with her just as much as he does too. She simply mesmerises the screen and with it the entire audience.
What resonates even to this day is the sound of her voice, which is almost in stark contrast to her unassuming ways: it is sexy, sultry, raspy, confident without being cocky, simply the voice of a femme fatale.
Lauren is one of those rare, incredibly special and unique women who not only take your breath away but who also stay with you forever.
Having read several bios, numerous articles as well as interviews I find a deep respect, admiration and wonder what a strong and fearless woman Lauren is; she has always striven to just be her.
We should all be a little bit more like that in my opinion.
