Chic Business Buy of the Day - J.Crew Irene Wool and Silk Blazer - " I had them at 'hello' "

A dear mentor of mine said to me years ago that the first few seconds count more than anything that comes after. So he kindly but firmly made it very clear to me that being polished is of utmost importance - especially when it comes to working. Do not assume that if you are not in Finance, you do not have to make an effort. That is not only naive but strikingly lazy as you never know who you meet, what may happen on any given day or moment. When I was still in New York, I ran at the most unassuming places into some of my dearest contacts/friends/colleagues. People take note of you no matter where they take sight of you, so you better get your game plan on and moving.
The best way to do that is to invest in fabulous staples that will never go out of fashion.
Again, please don't assume that the above wool blazer will do ALL the talking. It will frame you in the 'right light'. I have heard in the past employers tell me after having been employed that 'I had them at hello'. Thanks very much!
YOU are the ultimate power that will stear your boat. But better make sure your boat is allowed to dock on the right spot.
And finally, when someone makes a judgement on you, this happens within seconds. The mind, the intangible little judgements that are part of all of our decisions or even indecisions, of our cultural, socio-economic, religious, etc. upbringing and lives shape those decisions, so throw on a beauty like the above, prepare yourself to hold your head held high and speak with eloquent, decisive yet kind words as you never know whom your next mentor will be.
I tell my children every day, it is the quality that counts; the decision to try to do your best and learn from the mistakes that may arise but a great wise person isn't born just so but has come there from learning. Mistakes are good. Make them in style at least.
