Peter's aesthetic to keep things simple, fuss-free and as natural as possible appeals to me. At the end of the day good work shows truer if the end result is untouched. Surely it helps to be beautiful but ultimately it is Peter bringing all those elements together to get the above as a print-ready finished product that is beyond stunning. At once it feels somewhat insouciant but then again you wonder it cannot be so as all is drawing you in more and more and more. The palette of potential variables seems muted, simple - a plain or dark studio background or nature, the sea, untouched but touching (you)- yet the chic is palpable.
Long long ago I was packing for a big trip to the States and on the day of my departure I bought a career/business magazine showcasing Heidi Klum on its cover. Due to the seeming unexpected collision of worlds I purchased it and remember to this day - though not the name of the magazine- but the picture on its cover as well as all the editorial pictures within its cover story as they showed Heidi completely free and natural photographed by Peter Lindbergh. At first I thought it seemed obvious to pair the two but then in the course of reading the article I was drawn in.
The point I want to make is not so much the precise content of said article but rather the memory I carry and the essence this entails. It is important to distinguish yourself from anyone with the work you produce. And when all finery is stripped away, what should remain is just that the essence of you.
