Burgundy is a colour that is dear to me; its Latin etymological meaning simply refers to 'high' and 'mighty'. And this is exactly what the colour does, it lifts the wearer to a special place of quality, excellence and worth. But let us also be frank, simply donning a cheap purple frock and thinking you can morph into a young sister of the queen. It clearly and obviously is not as simple as that. Take the examples above, they lay claim to the fact that burgundy needs to walk within the confines of luxury fabrics such as pure wool, lamb-leather, cashmere, silk or lace.
My personal favourite burgundy look is comprised of a lamb-leather pencil skirt, a pure wool turtleneck paired with heeled knee-high boots and a skinny patent leather belt.
E voila!
