Jumping Suits (posted on 01/01/2012)

Grazia's Paula Reed gives her verdict on jumpsuits and advises in her article 'Paula: The Joy of Jumpsuits' that "if you buy one size up, you look positively sylph-like". Really? Let's be serious here. Take the above as an example of a jumpsuit by Stella McCartney from the spring 2012 collection. It looks ok, a positive 5.2 on a scale of 10, where 10 is a super chic look. I do not love the fabric and the colors here. It kind of works on Aline Weber, who makes it look slightly Marni-esque. But imagining this look, which is already struggling to look great on a model, on a normal woman, who buys it one size up as Paula suggests....why would it all of a sudden turn that normal-sized woman wearing it one size up into a sylph??? One would suppose that fashion editors are on our side.
