Peach Chic (posted on 05/10/2011)

I am the biggest fan of Karl Lagerfeld's design aesthetic for Chanel. So chic, elegant and luxurious. Though it can sometimes be a bit old. He uses a lot of heavy fabrics such as tweeds to create his blazer and skirt looks harking back to Coco Chanel's LBD and LBSS (little black skirt suits). Further his cuts are not always the most flattering in that the designs are boxier and less tight-fitting. This stems from Coco Chanel's decision to remove the corset styles that were restricting women in their everyday lives and started designing clothes that were free and full of possibilities boxed into a chic concoction of style, finesse and movability.

Take the outfit on the left from the spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection showing youth in the shorts and tight-fitting top as well as age or rather refinement in the laissez faire jacket -boxy, loose and practical. This peach colour is such a gorgeous tone and absolutely flattering. AND I am loving the matching boots and bag. A thoroughly chic and cool outfit.
Tres chic!
