I am an avid supporter of all things creative - be it in colour, design or print.
But there is a limit as to how much is tolerable in terms of wearability and looking fabulous.
The above look ("No1" in the lookbook) by Bassike fails to deliver in chic.
When you stop and stare at bad-crazy people on the street, that is never a good thing.
So when I came across this style conundrum, I stopped and stared for all the wrong reasons.
And I do acknowledge the fact that as a new-ish label one has to be very creative, different and fresh in order to be seen and noticed. But at the end of the day, all that really counts is the bottom line, which is what sells with us, the customers.
If the customer feels weird and looks even stranger, that is a sure sign of a no no.
The worst of the above look is clearly the skirt , which emphasizes all the wrong bits in a woman's silhouette.
Now to bring everything to life: Imagine the wearer of this ugly creation to be walking, moving, these "extra bits" would just swing so seemingly unobtrusive which then has the diametric opposite effect: that is draw even more attention to the fact that it moves in the most inelegant way possible.
