Chic Home Buy of the Day - AERIN Dover Floor Lamp - 'It Takes Perspective'

I cannot tell you exactly why it reminds me (completely vaguely of course) of Louis Bourgeois's Spider Sculpture. I sadly missed seeing it live at Tate Modern but the general impression of the art work still stuck.
And on an objective level, it may not have anything in common with it but on a subjective level it does - for me at least! What both have in common though are striking spindly features that are neither expected nor pretty on first glance. When I first saw both I thought, 'yeah ok, not perfect, next please'. But precisely this is also the reason I am not only posting about the lamp and drawing a comparison but also feeling the utmost desire to share my thoughts. I have grown attached to the bits that are not perfect. It seems that the artist/the designer decided to make a point of creating something beautiful but also making it different/unique which then strangely enough turn the 'thing' into beauty.
It takes perspective to see it that way.
In my opinion one should get two of this beauty above and place them in perfect symmetrical unison one left of a sofa and one right of it keeping the sofa simple such as in an emerald green velvet.
Imagine sitting on such sofa and having art-obsessed guests over. Now imagine the glorious conversations that would start simply by the fact that these imperfect but perfect really lamps are encircling you/protecting you while the critical artist observes.
I am loving this.
