Wangs Tent-Appeal (posted on 10/11/2011)

Karmen Pedaru who is wearing Alexander Wang's mohair/silk poncho above on his fall 2011 ready-to-wear catwalk is absolutely stunning. I love how the blush color of the poncho bounces off her tan legs and then clings for a moment on the beautifully slinky sandals. But lets step back and look at this alleged lust object again, this time with objective and realistic eyes. From the top it looks great as a mini poncho, just ever so slightly flaring down from the shoulders and giving a luxe, easy feel. The bottom bit is cut too leisurely as it bulges out too much alluding to camp fires and not 5th Avenue. Wang tries to lead us astray as he uses a luxurious fabric, silk, which is so delicate that one would not associate it with the outdoors. It also reminds me of silk sheets that have been wrapped around one's body after a long night's sleep so as not to disturb the postman when picking up the ordered parcel in the morning.
